Discuss some of the arguments for and/or against keeping animals in zoos.

In the jungle, several animals are at risk of extinction, and zoos protect creatures in danger. It is controversial for many, the fact that animals are taken away from their habitat to be inserted in recreated places. However, diverse arguments can be listed in favor of the evident advantages of having zoos. Below, the following essay will discuss the benefits of having animals in the zoo.

Worldwide people argue that zoo animals are kept in artificial environments. Additionally, they are kept in cages with limited space, and, as wildlife creatures, they lose their ability to hunt because they get used to relying on humans. For numerous reasons, it is discussed that zoos are unethical.

However, Are zoos that bad? Even though it is commonly argued all the negative aspects of having animals in zoos, people who argue should take their time to see zoos in another light. Thus, several positive aspects should be considered in favor of them.

On the contrary, to the fact that zoo animals are kept in small places it is good to mention that currently, zoos are recreating eco-friendly spaces in an efficient manner. Likewise, zoo animals have access to doctors and vaccines, which is not an advantage in the jungle. Following this further, several zoos have professionals and a prepared workforce studying animals’ behaviors and conditions to offer them better living patterns.

Besides all the positive aspects mentioned above, it is significant to remember the most frequent criticism ‘’Zoo animals lose their ability to hunt, because they get used to getting fed by humans’’. Considering these opinions from people who are against zoos, they must understand that zoos protect animals from extinction they can suffer in wild habitats. In other words, let’s illustrate this point: A creature in one category could have more than 20,000 spices around the world. Of those 20,000, zoos worldwide are keeping 2% of them. The 2% of animals that the zoos keep get used to the zoo-recreated habitats and acquire behaviors like pets. This 2% is working in favor of the rest of the animals when they are studied to develop cures and solutions for the animals in specific categories.

In conclusion, numerous positive aspects must be considered before arguing against zoos. Zoos do not have space to keep an entire wildlife family, zoos keep in their spaces just a small number of animals, and, regardless of all the benefits, zoos are protecting animals from extinction they can suffer in the jungle.
