What are the primary causes of deforestation?
To what results may it lead?
Forests purify the air and reduce the impact of greenhouse gases. Unfortunately, annually our green outdoor is decreasing based upon the indiscriminate cut of trees. The main causes of deforestation include man-made interventions, as well as, natural effects. Below, the following essay will demonstrate the primary causes of deforestation and its detrimental consequences.
On the one hand, diverse human interventions are destroying the environment. Causes of deforestation include mining, overpopulation, paper production, and farming impact. Overpopulation produces higher demand for food, housing, infrastructures, paper, and other resources. Thus, searching for food overfishing and overhunting appear, in addition to an increasing practice of agriculture, which requires a larger number of lands for food crops and eventually produces soil erosion, leaving us with less fertile land. According to a recent article by National Geographic agriculture is responsible for 80% of deforestation. Likewise, more people need more living facilities. Hence, the illegal cut of trees grows to supply a significant demand and to be used as individual income. Following this further, the need for natural resources includes mining to acquire fancy stones which today are more expensive and a recent trendy ornament.
On the other hand, owing to the causes of deforestation, loss of biodiversity increased greenhouse gas emissions, and drawbacks in the global economy appear. Deforestation causes the destruction of wildlife habitat. Without an ecosystem to live diverse spices are endangered. Likewise, the higher demand for food due to overpopulation has caused the invention of genetically modified food, the cultivation of those crops are killing some animals such as butterflies and bees because they acquire poison from GM crops when they are trying to feed themselves. Moreover, cutting down trees for infrastructure decreases the opportunity to purify the air and does not allow the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. According to Natural Geographic Magazine tropical rainforests in South America are responsible for producing 20 percent of the Earth’s oxygen and as was recently broadcasted worldwide people are not protecting The Amazons.
In conclusion, whereas a vast number of causes are harming the green layer of the planet Earth, the consequences are extremely negative affecting more than humans the biodiversity.
