As cross-cultural awareness of developing country’s challenges grows, there is an increasing debate about whether developed nations should help countries with humanitarian relief or not during natural disasters. My thinking on this matter is that wealthy nations should collaborate with moderation. Below, the following essay will demonstrate arguments in favor of humanitarian aid. Also, the reasons why this help must be given with moderation.

Firstly, wealthy countries should assist less privileged countries because they do not have the financial power to stand up by themselves. Unfortunately, less-wealthy countries do not have the financial resources to rebuild their structure in short periods. Thanks to the help received from privileged countries the essential infrastructure of a developing country can be processed immediately. Likewise, wealthy countries count with a vast number of health supplies for individuals and state-of-the-art machines to clean natural affected areas. Both are significant to guarantee a healthy framework after a natural disaster. To illustrate the positive outcomes from wealthy nations, the help for the Haiti disaster in 2010 is the perfect epitome. To clarify, Haiti, which is well-known as one of the poorer nations worldwide suffered a 6.0 earthquake in 2010. The disaster was broadcasted internationally, and consequently, all the wealthy nations around the world got together to help Haiti with basic human supplies, as well as, reconstruction.

Secondly, it is a human responsibility to help during unexpected disasters but, wealthy countries should collaborate with moderation. It is commonly believed, that if someone is always helping another person, who is not doing anything to change her/his reality, then the person helping is not helping. The same situation happens with low-level nations. For instance, there is a country in Africa that is affected by one earthquake annually. Regardless of their unfortunate reality, national institutions do not take any forward-thinking actions to be annually prepared before the next catastrophe. It is evident to wealthy countries that they had created dependency, and that government organizations are not working for the welfare of their civilians.

In conclusion, someone once said, ‘’treat other people as you hope they will treat you’’. After unfortunate realities beyond one’s control, helping others is a worldwide illustration of love. As a result, wealthy countries should help less privileged nations when a catastrophe had happened. However, to eliminate the detrimental effects that usual help can create, developed countries must help with moderation.
