In the learning process of another language. The way the language is spoken, heard, read, and written is equally important. From my personal perspective, people should master all four skills to develop a clear understanding of the new language.
Firstly, to be completely integrated with the new language, new learners should develop knowledge in the four main aspects. Unfortunately, if an individual learns how to speak but does not know how to write or read, the language would not be completely functional. It is proven by our ancestors and slaves that people could work without knowing how to read or write. However, the consequences of the lack of education were against those civilians. To clarify this illustration, the same happens with a person learning a second language. If the student would like to communicate in social events, the working place, or to a native speaker, preparation in writing, speaking, listening, and reading will give them the competitive advantage to be taken seriously always.
Secondly, a person who does not learn the four fundamental factors of learning a new language tends to make mistakes frequently. While some people can develop only one section of the learning phases, others make errors most of the time. When a person does not understand grammar rules, they can develop a tendency to express diverse sentences incorrectly while speaking. A recent study by the University of British Columbia showed that 8 out of 10 students of English from the Spanish-speaking community used to make mistakes with past tense, third person, and plurals as a result of their past learning process.
In conclusion, in order to deeply understand a new language people should not avoid all the crucial aspects of the learning process. Otherwise, they will be inclined to make mistakes without any awareness. The world-famous philosopher Socrates once said, ‘’knowledge is power.’’ Learners of a new language should be self-consious of everything they write, read, listen, or speak. Only knowledge will guarantee success.
Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.
